Skin Surface and Texture

Skin Surface and TextureAs we age, the texture of our skin surface changes. Dead skin cells find it difficult to desquamate (shed) and start to build up in areas of lines and wrinkles. This not only makes our lines and wrinkles look worse but also makes our skin dull, sallow looking and dry or rough to the touch.

The renewal and desquamation of the stratum corneum (surface layer) is responsible for the external appearance of the skin, its smoothness and texture.

When this desquamation of the skin is impaired or abnormal there is a build up of dead skin cells. It is this build up that alters the surface look and feel of our skin and adds to our age appearance.

Ideally treatments for skin surface and texture should include methods of repair, such as Dermaroller and topical ingredients that help promote repair of the skins function. It is only by actively repairing the skins structure, that we can gain long term textural improvement.
