PCOS/HIRSUTISM 

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a health problem that affects 1 in 10 women. It is a condition that affects how the ovaries work resulting in irregular periods, reduced fertility, excess hair growth and acne. 

 

Hirsutism is a condition in women that results in excessive growth of dark, coarse hair in a male-like patterns on the face, chest and back. Hirsutism often arises from an over-production of male hormones present. 

 

At Face the Future, we understand the complexity of this medical issue and can help support and treat some of the complex issues this condition can cause using the following methods of hair removal. We use the ND YAG Laser, ideal for all skin types and ethnicities with dark coarse hair. Electrolysis is a permanent method of hair removal working on all hair colours with coarse hair, electrolysis is only performed on the face due to its timely manner. Finally, we have alkaline wash treatment, which is most effective when treating fine downy hair. Although it can be used elsewhere, it is particularly suitable for the face and upper lip areas, where there is often a dense growth of fine hair.
