Hormonally Mediated Acne
Acne is the most common of all skin diseases and unfortunately seems to be on the rise.
Increasingly, we are seeing more and more adults presenting with a more 'hormonally mediated' Acne, which can be distressing, when it occurs for the first time in our late twenties and early thirties. There is no settling period for this type of Acne and clinical intervention is usually required. This type of Acne is seen predominantly in women and the effects on self-esteem and confidence can be devastating.
Acne can be an inherent, genetic condition or can be caused by external factors, such as hormonal fluctuations, stress, medications, hot or humid climates and irritating cosmetic ingredients. Typically with late onset acne or hormonally mediated acne, there is a large stress indication and it is important not just to examine the physical pathways of acne but also the emotional triggers that can make this debilitating skin disorder worse. At Face the Future we take a holistic view of our patients, with skin, nutrition and lifestyle factors assessed, to help skin recovery.
From a physiological perspective, it is important to stabilise the skin and regulate the dysfunctions that contribute to the acne condition by removing blockages within the ducts and regulating oil flow and cell turnover. At Face the Future, we take into account the individual condition and tailor a program to revise and preclude the recurrence of acne.
Often, with hormonally mediated acne, if not identified and treated successfully, additional repercussions, associated with damaged skin, pigmentation and scarring, can add further distress.
Acne is a complex disease not only of secretions but also of texture and colour and it is only after careful assessment and a planned program of treatments and home care support, that a positive result can be achieved.
Our Acne program is extremely successful, with our patient results speaking for themselves. We are proud of the results we achieve and the difference it makes to our patients lives.
Please be aware, there are many clinics offering acne treatments, who have no real understanding of either skin or the complex issues surrounding acne. There are many treatments on offer, with these clinics usually offering a course of peels or laser, to treat acne. These will not work, as dealing with acne on a superficial epidermal level, does not treat or solve the issues relating to this complex skin issue. Please do your research and do not waste your money on treatments that simply will not work! Find a clinic where your skin consultant has an in depth knowledge of acne and is happy to let you speak to patients who have undergone treatment.
At Face the Future, we have developed a combination treatment program that is extremely successful and you are welcome to speak to any of our patients who have undergone this acne treatment program, in fact we actively encourage it, as it can be of great help and support.
