Danne Montague King (DMK) Alkaline Wash
The DMK Alkaline Wash system is a treatment designed to reduce fine, downy facial hair. The advantage of Alkaline is that you can remove large areas of hair in one treatment with no discomfort. The treatment can also be combined with our enzyme therapy facial here at Face the Future Clinic.
How does Alkaline Wash work?
The treatment works by taking the hair to a high alkaline level which starts to dissolve the hair and part of the underlying follicle, leaving a smooth finish which is totally pain free.
The DMK Alkaline Wash system is a remarkable treatment for all areas of the face and body, designed to reduce fine, downy hair. This type of hair is very difficult to remove with other methods as the growth is usually dense and would take a long time to treat with electrolysis. It is also not suitable to be treated with IPL or Laser because it has no pigment for the laser to target. Alkaline Wash can remove large areas of hair in one treatment without discomfort, in comparison to other hair-removal methods. It can work well when combined with electrolysis and laser if these treatments are being used on terminal (coarse) hairs.
After your first treatment, the hair will grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the regrowth rate will become slower, and the hair will weaken; usually resulting in a permanent reduction over a period of time.
Duration of treatment – Approximately 30 minutes.
Anaesthesia required – None.
Downtime – The treatment is pain free, although you may feel some warmth or slight tingling once the treatment has been neutralised. This is normal and will subside in a short period of time.
Final results – After the first treatment the hair will grow back at its normal rate, but as treatments progress the regrowth rate will become slower, usually resulting in permanent hair reduction over a period of time.

(Results will vary depending on the cause of excess hair growth, ongoing treatments may need to be maintained.)

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
This will vary dependent on many things i.e., how the hair was previously treated, how long it has been there, the reasons for the hair growth e.g., hormonal, medications etc. Some clients report a reduction in hair growth after just one treatment. However, there is no guarantee as every client's skin is different. Treatment can be carried out every 4-6 weeks or as and when needed.
