How does Micro-Needling work?
Your treatment will be carried out with the preferred device as stated above, all devices feature the highest quality needles and advanced engineering ensuring that we can provide a treatment tailored to you and your skin.
Professional skin needling causes fractional wounding which triggers an inflammatory response. When the skin is injured a series of reactions take place in order to maximise and repair tissue damage. A pin-prick injury to the skin goes through the same three stages of the healing response as any larger wound. This causes a healing cascade to regenerate and encourage collagen and elastin production.
The M.Pen and EDS device work in the same way, they are both a mechanical device rather than a manual roller, both types of devices are physically moved over the skin by the practitioner who will work systemically to cover the treatment area and focus on specific needs. A mechanical device such as the M.PEN and EDS allows for easy adjustment of the depth and speed of the treatment, making it a safer option for a variety of different skin concerns.
Prior to the treatment your skin will be numbed using a topical anaesthetic (depending on the depth of needles used) so you can remain as comfortable as possible throughout. The skin will be assessed after a thorough cleanse and the treatment will commence. Treatment is approximately between 30 - 60 minutes depending if topical anaesthetic is applied.
Duration of treatment – 90 minutes.

Downtime – Post treatment, your skin will remain red, which may look like moderate sunburn for around 24-36 hours.
Final results – As the treatment stimulates natural responses in your skin it can take some time for the full effects of the treatment to show, but you can normally see improvements within a few weeks. Best results will be seen from three months onwards after a course of treatment.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
Treatment is approximately between 30 - 60 minutes depending on whether a topical anaesthetic is applied. When using a deeper needle depth, topical anaesthetic will be applied to reduce any discomfort.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Results will vary on each individual due to the condition being treated. As the treatment stimulates natural responses in your skin it can take some time for the full effects of the treatment to show but, you can normally see improvements after 3 sessions, best results will be seen from three months onwards after a course of treatment.
DOES THE TREATMENT HURT AND HAVE ANY DOWNTIME?
Because the skin is numbed prior to treatment, it shouldn’t cause any pain but there may be sensitive areas of the face that may make you feel uncomfortable. Post treatment, your skin will remain red, which may look like moderate sunburn for around 24-36 hours. The reaction from the treatment is determined by the needle length, skin type and condition. Appropriate homecare will help speed up the recovery and maximise results of the treatment.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Between 3-6 sessions, 4 – 6 weeks apart depending on the skin concern. If the treatment is for deep scarring, you may need more sessions and only a reduction may be achieved.
